Law-enforcement officials were told that terrorists were building a bomb that was eventually used to blow up the World Trade Center, and they planned to thwart the plotters by secretly substituting harmless powder for the explosives, an informer said after the blast.

The informer was to have helped the plotters build the bomb and supply the fake powder, but the plan was called off by an F.B.I. supervisor who had other ideas about how the informer, Emad Salem, should be used, the informer said.

By now the rather convenient timing of last night's arrests in New York to support Dick Cheney's turd-polish which has just ended must be obvious.

And like so many other "terrorist" arrests, this one involves an FBI informant who found a group of angry men, got them to the point of making some big talk, and set them up for an arrest.

Based on the prior record, there will be headlines for a few days, then the case will collapse for lack of real evidence.

But America needed "to remember why they need us!" to quote from "V for Vendetta" and last night's arrest set the stage for Dick Cheney to come onto TV today to try to save his sorry ass in a modern day repeat of the "Checkers" speech that saved Nixon's career.

Please keep in mind what happened when the earlier Dick got his second chance from a too forgiving American public.

Dick is trying to play the "24" scenario with himself as Agent Jack Bauer (a TV series whose sole purpose seems to have been to convince America that torture is cool).

But the reality Dick and ABCNNBBCBS is not mentioning is that torture wasn't used to find any ticking bombs, but to extract useful confessions, such as that of Ibn al-Sheikh al-Libi a knowingly false confession which was used to sell the Iraq war to the American people.

Ibn al-Sheikh al-Libi has now been conveniently suicided as an embarrassment to the state.

Frankly, you should be insulted that Dick Cheney think you are such a dumb rube that he can come on TV and talk you out of your righteous anger.

And please keep this in mind.

Yesterday the New York Times reported that President Obama is considering a plan for "preventive detentions" for suspected terrorists HERE IN THE UNITED STATES, specifically for people for whom no evidence of wrongdoing actually exists, but who the government wants to lock up anyway.

Does anyone here imagine that the same methods employed against the current terror suspects will not be used against the new ones, if the government feels they can get away with it? and look at the MIAC report and the DHS lexicon.

The government has already decided that anyone who supports the Constitution is a potential terror suspect.

Obama's plan can lock you up, and then you can figure out what happens next.
